Contra Costa County sheriff's deputies with the marine patrol unit are searching for a boater who went missing near Discovery Bay Sunday night.
Deputies responded to the vicinity of Indian Slough and the Werner Dredger Cut, a canal running from Discovery Bay toward Bethel Island, just after 9 p.m. Sunday on a report of a man who apparently disappeared into the water while his boat was being towed to the Orwood Resort in Brentwood.
The 47-year-old man, who is not currently being identified by authorities, was still missing as of Monday afternoon despite search efforts involving the U.S. Coast Guard and the California Highway Patrol as well as local police and firefighters.
