BART train equipment malfunctioned, causing a train to emit smoke Monday morning in San Francisco that prompted a 20-minute delay, BART officials said.
Around 10 a.m., BART officials reported that a train was experiencing equipment failure and there would be delays at East Bay stations.
BART spokesman Jim Allison said a train began to emit smoke between the Glen Park and 24th Street Mission stations.
Though Allison said it was a typical propulsion problem likely related to the train's brakes, he said the smoke caused some anxiety.
Shortly after the problem was discovered, passengers were let off at the 24th Street Mission station, Allison said. There were no injuries.
Allison estimated that service would return to normal by around 10:45 a.m.
