BART Wants Public Input on Seat Designs

BART is hosting the first in a series of open house events Thursday in Richmond to get feedback on design concepts for future trains.

BART's aging cars will be replaced in the coming years, but a design concept is needed first.

The public will be asked to give feedback on three interior concepts and one exterior concept that will be presented on 7-foot-tall displays. The design concepts were created by BMW Group Designworks USA.

The trains' final design will be based on what riders have to say, BART officials said.

The design ideas can also be viewed at 14 BART stations or online at www.bart.gov, where people can share their feedback using an online form.

Thursday's open house will be held at Richmond Main Street, 1000 Macdonald Ave., Suite C, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Additional open house events will be held through Aug. 27 at various Bay Area locations.
