Bay Area Native Competes in Figure Skating Championships

Orinda Teen Expected to Impress in Pairs Competition

As the U.S. Figure Skating Championships heat up this week at the HP Pavilion, a Bay Area native will be competing for the gold.

18-year old AnnaMarie Pearce is competing in the pairs figure skating category, with her partner Craig Norris. The pair placed second in the sectional championships held in Salt Lake City in November. The Orinda native tells the Contra Costa Times she's focused on getting to the podium at nationals.

Pearce has been skating since she was 7 years old.

She and Norris now train in Southern California, with their coaches Olympic skaters Jenni Menno and Todd Sand.

They'll compete tonight and tomorrow at the HP Pavilion.
