Think it's too cold to walk around a Bay Area beach in the nude? Think again.
Our friends at the San Francisco Bay Guardian have put out their 35th annual guide to Bay Area nude beaches for everyone to see. The guide includes everything from how to strip down on San Francisco's Baker Beach and get away with it to nude creek bathing in the quiet East Bay town of San Ramon. (Hint: go at night).
The Bay Guardian grades the beaches and tells us the pitfalls, such as nosy neighbors or police raids, of going commando on your favorite hot spot.The spread is a celebration of the human body and how it can get us in trouble.
"San Francisco may be the only place in the country where it's possible to get away from your office and spend your lunch break basking in the sun without wearing a stitch of clothes before returning to the work grind," the paper writes.
The piece also shares some of the Bay Area's best hidden spots to get some sun on those hard to reach places.
From Civic Center, visitors drive to the end of Geary Boulevard and then walk down a short path to enjoy one of The City's best kept secrets: a small beach that features a mix of sand and rocks, plus some of the Bay Area's most spectacular views. Even on hot days, there may be fewer than 10 persons present.
And while walking around in the buff is not legal on most Bay Area beaches, the Guardian says "the current nude beach scene is more active than it has been in three decades."
