The Mega Millions lottery jackpot soared to the third largest it has ever been at $363 million, after no one was able to match all six numbers on Friday night's $290 million drawing.
If someone wins the $363 million jackpot Tuesday night, he or she has an estimated cash option payout of $259.8 million, according to a news release posted on the California's lottery website.
The swelling pot is the largest since January 2011 when the jackpot reached $380 million. The next drawing is scheduled for Tuesday at 8 p.m.
The largest jackpot ever won was $390 million in March 2007, with a cash option of $233 million.
The retailer who sells the lucky ticket will receive a maximum bonus of $1 million, according to the news release.
Chances of winning the enormous winnings are about 1 in 176,000,000.
