Police Take Santa Rosa High Suspect With Gun Into Custody

Police took a suspect into custody Friday morning after they placed Santa Rosa High School on lockdown following a report that a classmate saw a student with a handgun.

Officers began searching the school's campus for a juvenile suspect a few hours before the person was located and taken into custody, according to Santa Rosa Police Department. There has been no report of violence or injury, police said.

Student Obee Donaghy, 18, said all the high school seniors were locked in the school's gymnasium, some were playing basketball and others signing yearbooks.

"Admin just told us that there was a suspicious man on campus. We don’t know when we’ll be let out," Donaghy told NBC Bay Area as police searched the school.

Students were let out for the day shortly after the suspect was located, according to police. Prior to the suspect being taken into custody, police described him as a white male 15-year-old juvenile wearing a grey sweatshirt and a red hat.

The high school's seniors were expected to have their graduation later Friday night.
