Berkeley Police Kill Pit Bull That Bit Officer's Hand

A Berkeley police officer shot and killed one of two pit bulls Tuesday night that a spokeswoman said bit an officer on the hand.

Officer Jennifer Coats said the officer was treated for his injuries after killing the dog, and the second dog was "restrained."

The officer and his team were executing a search warrant about 9:25 p.m. in the 1000 block 28th Street in Oakland when the attack occurred, police said.

Officers ended up arresting the dog’s owner, Travis Fugit, 32, of Oakland, for felony identity theft.
