Police in Berkeley are searching for three suspects who stole a cash machine from a gas station Tuesday morning, according to the police department.

The theft occurred at about 6:35 a.m. at a Mobil station in the 900 block of University Avenue, police said. The three suspects removed the ATM that was mounted on an exterior wall and put it into an SUV before fleeing.

The suspect vehicle, a gray 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, was later determined to be stolen out of Albany, police said.

The suspects were last seen going south on Eighth Street from University Avenue. Numerous officers responded to the area but were unable to locate the suspects or the vehicle, police said.
