Thousands Expected at #PokeCrawlSF Next Week

Pokemon Go bar crawls are occurring all over the world, and San Francisco, the birthplace of the app creator, is certainly no exception.

And as someone from New Orleans asked, "be honest, you saw this coming."

As of Thursday, more than 24,000 clicked that they are interested in attending the mysterious event scheduled for an undetermined place in San Francisco on July 20 from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. More than 5,800 indicated they are actually going. And the organizers are hoping for even more. "Invite your coworkers, your mom, your mom's mom, everyone!"

The exact place of where to meet will be posted on Sunday or Monday. Live updates of where the group will be during the crawl will be posted here.

If you've had your head under a rock for the last eight days, San Francisco-based Niantic released the wildly popular smart phone game last week, catapulting the geocaching-style game into a storied place in gamer history. The game has players hunting and catching imaginary creatures using a smartphone’s GPS and clock.

Lest you think this crawl will be a piece of cake, there are extra challenges offered: Download the game first, stay sober or start drinking at any time, and post a selfie off yourself in your best crawler gear and tag it on Instagram, #pokecrawlsf.
