A big rig crashed on southbound Interstate 280 in San Francisco at the height of the evening commute Thursday.
The impact left the cab of the truck hanging over the guard rail of the raised highway. Below was Highway 101. There were reports of debris falling onto southbound lanes of the highway at Alemany.
The crash blocked all lanes of the 280 overpass as well as both directions of Highway 101 below.
A SigAlert was declared for the SB 280 to SB 101 interchange in San Francisco.
The CHP said 101 would be closed below the crash until the truck could be moved back onto the roadway.
The big rig was hooked up to the tow truck by 6 p.m., but crews said they were "very cautious" because they don’t want to lose the cab over the side.The truck was towed away around 6:20 p.m.
The scene was cleared before 9 p.m.

The truck appeared to be towing a small forklift which was left on its side behind the big rig. The right front tire of the big rig was several feet over the side of the highway. Major damage could also be seen to the guardrail.
The incident was reported on southbound I-280 near Alemany Boulevard at 5:13 p.m., according to the CHP.
No injuries were reported in the crash.
