Black and White Ball Returns to the City

The San Francisco Symphony's 2010 Black & White Ball is expected  to draw 5,000 guests Saturday, according to event officials.

The ball benefits the San Francisco Symphony's program Adventures in Music, which provides free music education to more than 20,000 first- through fifth-grade students in San Francisco public schools.

Eleven bands will play on five stages, with dancing, food and  drinks.

A special concert at Davies Symphony Hall will feature Tony  Bennett and KD Lang, followed by a post-concert party with Kool & The Gang,  Tiempo Libre, Faith Evans, Wonderbread 5, the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra and  other musical groups including Foreverland, a Michael Jackson tribute band.

Grove Street was shut down Thursday morning between Van Ness Avenue  and Franklin Street so preparations could begin. The block will reopen at 3 p.m. Sunday.
