A man was found dead of a suspected gunshot wound at Coyote Hills Regional Park in Fremont, police said Sunday.
Around 6:30 a.m., a park visitor reported a deceased person found in the bushes just off Patterson Ranch Road near Paseo Padre Parkway, according to police. Emergency medical crews were dispatched to the park, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The decedent had a puncture to the chest, which authorities believe is a suspected gunshot wound. However, East Bay Regional Parks District spokeswoman Carolyn Jones said that no weapon was found at the scene.
The victim is described as a Hispanic male, but he has not yet been identified, Jones said.
The entrance to the park was temporarily closed, but it reopened around 11:15 a.m. after officers completed a search of the area.
