Bro on Bro Death Leads to Charges

A 46-year-old man who allegedly punched his older brother, who then fell and hit his head and later died, in San Francisco last week will be  charged with involuntary manslaughter, prosecutors said today.

Michael Cavness is also facing a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, for allegedly attacking another man during the same encounter shortly  after noon Thursday on McAllister Street, in the city's Western Addition  neighborhood, according to the district attorney's office.

According to police, Cavness struck his 48-year-old brother Edward Cavness in the upper chest, knocking him over.

Edward Cavness then hit his head on the ground, police said.

He was pronounced dead Friday afternoon at San Francisco General Hospital, according to the medical examiner's office.

Police said it was unknown at this time what the men had been arguing about.
