Crews from the San Jose Fire Department and Cal Fire responded to the fire, which was burning at a moderate rate of spread. Officials reported the fire was 70% contained.

"Getting to the fire as quickly as possible is the most important thing we can do," said ED Orre, division chief of Cal Fire. "Our helicopter is just minutes away from where the Guadalupe fire was, so they took quick action.”

Firefighters said forward progress of the blaze was stopped at 5:08 p.m.
