A brush fire that prompted evacuations and charred 533 acres near Antioch was fully contained late Wednesday, fire officials said, but kept fire crews on high alert throughout the day on Thursday
Contra Costa County Fire Capt. Jim Huntze ordered six unit to continue patrolling the Contra Loma Regional Park in Contra Costa County, after a blaze broke out Wednesday at 4 p.m. He said this area is the driest he's seen in 27 years.
Police assisted fire crews with the evacuation of about 30 homes on Grimsby Drive. An evacuation center was also set up at Mira Vista Park. In addition, the facilities at the Contra Loma reservoir were evacuated.
Homes were also threatened in the area of Frederickson Lane and firefighters posted in the area to protect the structures.
Firefighters with the county, Cal Fire and East Bay Regional Parks assisted in responding to blaze.
Officials said there were no injuries or structures damaged in the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
