A 69-year-old man and his 7-year-old grandson are recovering from injuries they suffered Tuesday afternoon when they were hit by a car while walking home from the boy's school.
The two were on their way home from Forest Hill Elementary School and were walking east across Harriet Avenue at McCoy Avenue shortly before 2 p.m. when they were hit by a Ford Explorer traveling south on Harriet, Campbell police Capt. Charley Adams said.
They were taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Adams said.
The boy and his grandson were in a crosswalk, police said, but there is no stop sign or traffic light for drivers on Harriet Avenue at that intersection.
The driver remained at the scene and police have determined that alcohol was not a factor in the accident. Adams said police are still trying to determine whether speed played a role.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call Sgt. Chris Milosovich at (408) 866-2710.
