Car Crashes into South Bay Front Yard in East Foothills; Manhunt Ensues

A car crashed into the front yard of a South Bay home Sunday morning, causing heavy police activity and a manhunt in the East Foothills.

According to Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies, the pursuit started after 9:00 a.m. off Story Road and Flemming Avenue in the East Foothills of San Jose, an unincorporated part of Santa Clara County. While deputies were trying to pull over a white Cadillac, the car crashed into a tree in the yard of the home, and several people fled the scene.

Four people were inside the car--three men and one woman. Deputies caught all but one of the suspects right away, but, with the help of their K-9 unit and a CHP helicopter, they caught him at around 10:30 a.m.

Phuong Le, the owner of the home where the car crashed, said he was shaken by the incident.

"Just very surprising, and very scary too. A lot of police in front of the house," he said.

Neighbors were asked to stay inside their homes for about 30 minutes during the manhunt. Deputies are still investigating, interviewing the suspects and talking to witnesses.

No injuries have been reported, and deputies have not said why the suspect car was stopped.
