Car Smashes into North Bay Senior Center

A driver plowed through a wall and landed his car completely inside of a senior center in Novato Monday morning, police said.

The solo vehicle car accident occurred around 3 a.m. when the driver veered off the road and collided with the Margaret Todd Senior Center, Novato Police Sgt. Sasha D'Amico said.

The driver, identified as a 38-year-old resident of San Rafael, showed signs of impairment when authorities arrived on the scene and police are conducting a DUI investigation, D'Amico said. Before being transported to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries, the driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.

The senior center suffered significant structural damage, but no one else was hurt in the crash, D'Amico said.

"Glad no one else was injured," D'Amico said.
