Carly Fiorina Undergoes Cancer Surgery

Former HP chief "doing great" after operation

The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that former Hewlett Packard Chief Executive Carly Fiorina has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Fiorina's chief of staff told the Chronicle that Fiorina was diagnosed with the disease last month and underwent surgery Monday at Stanford Hospital. Deborah Bowker said that Fiorina is "doing great" and has an excellent prognosis for a full recovery.

Fiorina is a Republican who served as an adviser to Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign.

The next step for Fiorina is a regimen of chemotherapy at Stanford, according to the Chronicle. She will restrict her travel and activities for the next few months as she recovers. She is expected to return " to all of the activites to which she is enthusiastically committed," Bowker told the Chronicle.
