Cats Shot With Arrow, Pellet Gun in Livermore: Police

"We're hoping that someone saw something, knows something or was bragging about it," Officer Traci Rebiejo said.

Someone shot a cat in Livermore with an arrow, and another cat named Stuffing with a pellet gun, all within a month's time.

And now, police are hoping to find those people and arrest them on animal cruelty charges.

"We're hoping that someone saw something, knows something or was bragging about it," Officer Traci Rebiejo said on Tuesday.

Livermore police posted a photo of the most recent sad-looking black feline on Facebook Tuesday, saying that the male cat had been found on Honeysuckle Road in the Springtown area on July 7. Homeowners found the cat, with an 18-inch Easton Axis arrow straight through its cheek, exiting out its back, Rebiejo said. "It's amazing it didn't hit any vital organs," she said.

Doctors found a chip inside the cat that stems from the Cat Foundation in San Ramon, Rebiejo said, making officers believe that someone adopted it from there. She's hoping by sharing the photo, the owner will come forward. For now, the photo shows the cat, which underwent surgery, with a plastic collar around its neck, and its eyes are downcast.

In late June, another cat named Stuffing went missing and was found in early July, but only after being shot three times with a pellet gun, Rebiejo said. Stuffing's owners have been reunited with Stuffing, but surgery after the wounds cost $6,000.

Police do not believe the two attacks are connected.
