Caught on Camera: Brazen Bandit Jacks ATM User

Thief gets away with cash

Every ATM user's nightmare became real for a 17-year-old boy in the North Bay last week and the whole thing is captured on camera.

The teenager was about to pull some cash from the Chase Bank ATM at 300 Las Gallinas Ave. in San Rafael just after midnight on April 12, police said, when a man came up behind him tried to rob him.

When the boy refused to withdraw money and hand it over, the bandit pulled out a semiautomatic handgun and hit him over the head with it several times, police said. The teenager then relented and handed over the bills.

The thief is described as black, 20-25 years old, 6 feet 5 inches tall, 180 pounds with black hair, brown eyes, and a little bit of an unshaven face. He was wearing a white furry hunting-style hat with ear flaps, pink sunglasses with pink-tinted rims, a mid-thigh length black and dark green camouflage jacket with a hood, blue jeans and white shoes.
