Celebrities May be the Death of Twitter

Twitter's celebrity appeal may soon be a thorn in its side.

A company that says it has a patent on creating virtual community for famous people is suing Twitter for infringing on its copyright.

The San Francisco-based microblogging site of course shot out into the mainstream partly thanks to a push from celebrities such as Ashton Kutcher.

But VS Technologies says US patent no. 6,408,309, which it owns, prevents Twitter from creating a “method and system for creating an interactive virtual community of famous people,” according to TechCrunch.

Naturally VS Technologies is seeking damages from Twitter.
