The infamous case of the lost and found iPhone4 prototype has taken a legal step forward.
The San Mateo County District Attorney's Office officially filed misdemeanor charges in the case.
To spark your memory: a phone was found by a man at a Redwood City bar. With the help of a friend, that man reportedly sold the phone to a blogger for $5,000. The blogger reported on all the new featured on the secret phone to the joy of customers and the dismay of Apple.
This all made headlines back in March of last year.
The DA's office said it took until now to file charges because it took that long to extract the digital evidence needed in the case.
Brian Hogan, who allegedly found the phone, and Sage Wallower, who allegedly helped him sell it, have been charged with one count of misappropriation of lost property. Wallower was also charged with one count of possession of stolen property.
No charges will be filed against Gizmodo employees, according to the DA.
Hogan and Wallower each face up to a year in county jail. They are scheduled to be arraigned later this month.
