CHP Investigating Another Shooting on Interstate 80 in Contra Costa County

Police say a suspect pointed a firearm toward a driver before firing off shots into the air.

Police are investigating another shooting on Interstate 80 in Contra Costa County.

At 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, the California Highway Patrol received a report of the shooting on eastbound 80 near Richmond Parkway.

An investigation revealed a woman who was driving her vehicle in the No. 2 lane of the freeway told police a green Toyota pulled along her right side in the No. 3 lane. A male passenger in the left rear passenger seat rolled down his window and pointed a gun toward her, according to the CHP.

Police said the suspect then pointed the weapon into the air and fired multiple shots. The Toyota fled the scene after the shooting, according to the CHP.

The CHP said no one was injured in the shooting.

There have been a slew of shootings on I-80 in the Richmond area in the last few months.

In February, a 40-year-old man died when his vehicle went down an embankment following a shooting on the freeway.

Police are asking for anyone who witnessed Tuesday's shooting to contact the CHP at 707-551-4100.
