Coroner IDs Victim of Grisly Weekend Crash on Highway 4 in Martinez as Concord Teen

A 19-year-old woman who was killed in a chain-reaction crash on state Highway 4 in Martinez on Saturday night has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner's office as Alexandra Garcia.

Garcia, a Concord resident, crashed her Mazda 3 into the center guardrail on westbound Highway 4 east of Alhambra Avenue just after 8:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

She then exited the Mazda just before it was struck by a Buick Riviera, which in turn caused the Mazda to hit her, CHP officials said.

Garcia was propelled into the second lane of traffic, where she was run over by a Honda Civic, according to the CHP.

All three vehicles ended up striking the center median and the Buick overturned.

Garcia was killed in the crash, CHP officers said, adding that one other motorist suffered moderate injuries and a third suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
