Cowboy on Horse Passes Through Marin

A cowboy passed through Marin, leaving awareness and manure in his wake

Look for the manure on the streets. And you'll soon see Doc Mishler.

The cowboy leading three horses through suburban Marin -- and leaving droppings along the way on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard -- is Mishler, who is in the process of riding around the United States to raise awareness of child hunger, according to the Marin Independent Journal.

Mishler is headed to Hollywood, he told reporters. He stayed Sunday evening in Fairfax after sleeping Monday night in Mill Valley. He was supposed to cross the Golden Gate Bridge into San Francisco at some point New Year's Day.

On Monday, the cowboy and his three horses -- Chief Free Spirit, Justice, and Charity, the newspaper reported -- caused a stir while the cowboy drank coffee and smoked a cigarette.

Ten years ago, Mishler also swung through Marin County on a similar trip to fulfill the same mission. He stayed at the Marin Stables in Fairfax then.

He distributed fliers with Bible verses, and when asked where he would stay in Mill Valley, he said, "I'm sure God has a plan," he told the paper.
