Crews Repair Gas Line Break at Foster City Shopping Center

A PG&E spokeswoman said gas service was not interrupted during a gas line break in Foster City Saturday morning.

PG&E responded to a report of a break to a 2-inch plastic gas line by a third-party contractor in the 900 block of East Hillsdale Boulevard around 9:20 a.m., utility spokeswoman Jana Morris said.

PG&E crews shut off the gas at 12:53 p.m. and were able to make repairs to the line, Morris said. As of around 4:30 p.m., Morris said crews were still working to clean up the site but no customers had lost gas service due to the line break.

"There's no time estimate for when cleanup will be finished," Morris said. "We could be out there for a few more hours finalizing our work before we're completely off-site."

The gas line break resulted in the closures of CVS Pharmacy, ABC Seafood Restaurant, and Corner Bakery Café, however a Safeway grocery store remained open, police said via Twitter.
