Curry Torches Heat, Warriors Win 3rd Straight Road Game

Stephen Curry did most of the heavy lifting, scoring a game-high 30 points Sunday night to carry the Warriors to a 123-95 rout of the Heat at American Airlines Arena in Miami.

Kevin Durant put in 24 points, Klay Thompson 19 and Omri Casspi added 10 off the bench as the Warriors won their third straight game on the road trip.

After a relatively sluggish start, allowing 36 first-quarter points, the Warriors (18-6) limited the Heat to 59 points on 38.3-percent shooting over the final three quarters.

The Warriors (18-6) committed a season-low-tying 10 turnovers.

STANDOUT PERFORMER: Maybe it was the South Beach air, but several Warriors shook off slow starts before settling in. Curry, by contrast, appeared to be operating on a full eight hours of sleep and did not seem bothered by his tender right ring finger.

Curry’s line: 30 points (11-of-16 from the field, including 5-of-9 from deep, 3-of-4 from the line), three assists, two rebounds and two steals. He played 30 minutes and finished plus-20.

TURNING POINT: After going into halftime with a 62-60 lead, the Warriors took command when opening the third quarter with an 18-3 run to forge an 80-63 lead on a Curry layup with 7:20 left in the third.

The Heat got no closer than 14 in the third quarter and no closer than 24 in the fourth, as the Warriors led by as much as 33.

INJURY UPDATE: Warriors: G Stephen Curry (R hand contusion) and F Kevin Durant (R ankle sprain) were upgraded to available after the morning shootaround. F Andre Iguodala (L knee soreness) was listed as out. C Damian Jones is on assignment with the G-League Santa Cruz Warriors.

Heat: G Rodney McGruder (L tibia surgery), F Okaro White (L foot surgery) and C Hassan Whiteside (L knee bone bruise) were listed as out.

WHAT'S NEXT: The Warriors return to the court Monday night, when they face the New Orleans Pelicans at Smoothie King Center. Coverage on NBC Sports Bay Area begins at 4:00, with tipoff scheduled for 5:05.
