Hundreds of volunteers are joining together Saturday morning to build a new playground at an elementary school in Daly City that is inspired by drawings from children in the community.
The event organized by the Brisbane School District, Kaiser Permanente and the nonprofit KaBOOM! will take place over six hours at Panorama Elementary School at 25 Bellevue Ave. in Daly City.
In September, children in the community were invited to draw their dream playground, and the one being built is based on their drawings, according to organizers.
Kaiser Permanente is also adding adult exercise equipment at the site so families can work out and play together there.
The event starts with a kickoff ceremony at 8:30 a.m. and is expected to end around 2:30 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
