Danville Celebrates May the Fourth with Star Wars Fest for Kids

Danville celebrated May the Fourth with a Star Wars festival for kids on Wednesday.

Little Leias and young Yodas crowded the Danville Community Center to make crafts, navigate obstacle courses and zoom on a zipline.

Each young Padawan who completed “Jedi training” earned a certificate and snacks.

Parents were happy to reuse Halloween costumes, and little girls did their hair up in Leia Organa’s trademark twin buns.

The most popular activity was the unorganized lightsaber battles. Volunteers distributed green pool noodles with electrical tape handles. Children swashbuckled across the lawn, swinging at anything that moved.

Henry Perezalonso of the Danville Parks Department said the event was well attended and no droids were injured.
