Discount Travel Agencies Want Google to Stay Away

Google already tells us where to go for vacation, what to do there, what the weather will be like once we are there and what restaurants to eat at.

Now it's going the Silicon Valley tech giant is going to tell us how to get there? If a group of travel agencies and discount travel search engines have there way, no.

Google is looking to purchase a technology supplier that helps find discount airline tickets.

Discount travel site Expedia is leading a group called FairSearch.org trying to convince U.S. regulators from blocking Google's $700 million purchase of ITA Software.

The group says Google will be able to strangle them out of the market if the deal is allowed to go forward. And in the end the consumer will be the loser because the move, they say, will drive up ticket prices.
