Dog Found Trapped Next to Dumpster Rescued in Mill Valley

Every dog has his day, and it appears Mozzarella’s was yesterday.

The sweet pup, believed to be about two years old, was rescued after being trapped in a carrier next to a dumpster in Mill Valley. According to the Marin Humane Society, the “scared, sweet” boy was abandoned by his previous owner.

“While we investigate this case of abandonment, “Mozzarella,” as we’re calling him, got a much needed bath and trim from our friends at Doggie Styles Grooming,” Marin County officials said in a statement posted to their Facebook account.

They also uploaded a video of a Marin Humane Society official coaxing the scared dog out of its cage with treats. Slowly but surely, he leaves his carrier, with his curly white hair in knots and his face obscured by tangles.

In addition to a grooming, caretakers for the dog have also given him vaccinations and he has since been neutered.

“He’s still pretty shy and will need a patient home, but we have high hopes for him, “the society said in a statement.
