Don't Drink and Drive — Not Even in a Golf Cart

Police: Drunken golf car driver crashed into cars, tossing son out

A 9-year-old boy was injured and his father arrested on suspicion of drunken driving Friday in relation to a hit-and-run injury accident involving a golf cart, according to police officials.

At about 7:30 p.m., Fairfield police responded to the area of Timberline Place and Silverado Drive in Cordelia after witnesses reported seeing the man collide with a vehicle causing the young boy to fall out.

On scene, officers determined the driver of the golf cart, Douglas Cyr, 51, of Fairfield, was under the influence of alcohol.

Further investigation revealed that Cyr had struck two parked cars, knocking his son out of the vehicle and then fleeing the scene, police said.

Witnesses directed officers to Cyr's home in the 5000 block of Greenwood Court where he was positively identified and arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, felony hit and run and felony child endangerment.
