Downtown SF Bank Robbed in Broad Daylight

A bank on the 500 block of Montgomery Street was robbed on Tuesday afternoon.

He knew where San Francisco keeps its money -- the Financial District.

A downtown San Francisco bank was robbed on Tuesday afternoon, with an unidentified white man making off with cash from a Financial District hall of finance, according to the San Francisco Examiner.

Police are still searching for a "white man in his 40s" who allegedly robbed a bank in the 500 block of Montgomery Street at around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, the newspaper reported. No further description of the suspect was available.

The name of the robbed bank was not released, but the 500 block of Montgomery Street is home to locations for both Bank of the West and East West Bank. Nearly every other West Coast bank of note has a location within a few blocks.

Here's how the heist allegedly went down: in a classic move, the thief handed a bank teller a note informing that he was armed, according to the newspaper. The teller handed the thief a bag full of an unknown amount of cash. The suspect took the bag and fled on foot, according to the newspaper.

No other information is available at this time.
