“Drowsy” Drain Truck Driver, Strikes Gas Meter

A drain cleaning truck driver who was drowsy Tuesday morning plowed into a gas meter in front of an apartment in San Jose's Camden neighborhood, firefighters said.

No one was hurt when the "Drains Rooter Service" truck out of Campbell hit a car and a gas meter at 3:40 a.m. in front of an apartment complex at Donna Lane and Camden Avenue, a fire dispatcher said.

Firefighters said they did not know why the driver was so sleepy; he was taken by police squad car from the site, but he has not been arrested.

Jaden Fulmer, who lives across the street, said he's witnessed several drivers take the turn in his neighborhood too closely and just "lose it."
