Dual Events at Oracle Park, Chase Center in San Francisco

Tuesday night presented a new challenge in San Francisco: simultaneous events at Chase Center and Oracle Park.

Oracle Park played host to a regular season contest between the San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates. About an hour later, Dave Matthews Band took the stage at the new Chase Center.

The venues are about one mile apart in the city's Mission Bay district.

Chase Center opponents always said the confluence of crowds would spell traffic hell down there, and for some it did.

"We’re driving around for about a solid hour, and we couldn’t find parking," said Rod Stewart of Manteca. "We had to park 2 miles away and take an Uber here."

Tens of thousands of people, not enough public parking, and streets not designed to handle the vehicle load. Public transportation may have been the better option, with Muni running special buses to the 16th Street BART station and all the way down Van Ness Avenue.

People who live in the city’s sunset district, went street car crazy.

"The N to the K to the T," San Francisco resident Christine Temaz said.
