A preliminary 2.7 magnitude earthquake struck early Tuesday morning in the Santa Cruz Mountains, near Mount Madonna, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake hit at 12:36 a.m. and was centered about 10 miles southwest of Morgan Hill, near the border of Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties, the USGS said.
