
A preliminary 2.7 magnitude earthquake struck in the East Bay, just east of Fremont, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake, centered about 5 miles east-southeast of Fremont, hit at 10:58 a.m., the USGS said.
The source of the temblor was relatively shallow, with a depth of about 3.7 miles, the USGS said.
