A preliminary 2.9 magnitude earthquake struck near Berkeley early Thursday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake hit at 2:41 a.m. and was centered 1.8 miles east-southeast of Berkeley, the USGS said.
No other information was immediately available.
