M2.9 Earthquake Shakes South Bay, Centered Near Milpitas: USGS

A preliminary 2.9 magnitude earthquake struck Tuesday near Milpitas, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The quake, centered about 6.6 miles northeast of Milpitas and 11.6 miles north-northeast of San Jose, hit at 11:45 a.m., the USGS said
