Small Earthquake Rattles in the East Bay, Near Richmond: USGS

A preliminary 2.5 magnitude earthquake struck near Richmond on Monday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The quake struck at about 7:42 a.m. and was centered about 2 miles northeast of Richmond, the USGS said.
