3 East Bay Cities Ranked Among Most Liberal in America

The East Bay has secured more than 30 percent of the positions on a new top 10 list ranking the most liberal cities in America.

A survey conducted by Crowdpac ranked Berkeley (No. 7), Albany (No. 9) and El Cerrito (No. 10) on its list of most liberal cities, which was determined by examining the organization's available data on political campaign donations, according to the Chronicle. The data goes all the way back to 1980.

Crowdpac's political director told Washington Post the data reveals broad strokes but not nuances.

"We know San Francisco leans Democratic," said Mason Harrison by way of example. "We don't know whether those Democrats are Dennis Kucinich Democrats or Joe Biden Democrats or Hillary Clinton Democrats."

Vashon Island, Washington, was determined to the most liberal enclave in the United States.

No Bay Area cities made the top 10 list of most conservative cities in the country.
