A San Leandro woman was struck and killed by a vehicle in a hit-and-run collision in Oakland on Friday afternoon, according to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office coroner's bureau.
The coroner's bureau confirmed early Saturday that Miesha Ellese Singleton, 40, was struck and killed by a vehicle in Oakland on Friday.
Oakland Schools' authorities confirmed the woman was also a parent of a student at Elmhurst United Middle School.
"We need people to slow down, especially around school zones," the PIO said. "This happened shortly after dismissal."
Authorities did not reveal the age, sex or grade of the student.
The collision took place at about 3:22 p.m. in the 1800 block of 98th Avenue, police said. Officers arrived at the scene to find the victim, who police didn't identify.
Police are asking for the public's help in locating a newer-model white Nissan Maxima with front-passenger side damage to the windshield. It is believed to be the vehicle that hit Singleton.
