Super Bowl 50 Statues Vandalized in San Francisco

Ten Super Bowl 50 statues are being put up around the Bay Area and two of them have already been vandalized.

The statues weigh 1,600 pounds and have self-contained power generators that make them light up at night, Hoodline reports. They also have individual themes. So far, the statues have been spotted at San Francisco City Hall, the Palace of Fine Arts and Alamo Square, right across from the Painted Ladies, where it was vandalized by someone.

"It has a few scratches, but is basically fine," Tom Schubert, a designer for Bluemedia, which created the statues, told Hoodline. The City Hall statue also had its solar panels ripped off (Not everyone is happy about the Super Bowl taking place in the Bay Area, because, you know, traffic, tourists, more traffic, etc.).

The most recent statue was spotted at San Jose International Airport. It sounds like no one — except the NFL — knows where the next one is going up.

Tag NBC Bay Area on Instagram and Twitter if you spot a statue and we might use your photos online and on air.[[365690371, C]]
