Ex-San Francisco Firefighter Surrenders in DUI Rig Crash

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A former San Francisco firefighter has surrendered to face felony drunken-driving charges stemming from an incident in which he allegedly drove a ladder truck into a motorcyclist and left the scene.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports Michael Quinn turned himself in Monday. The 43-year-old was indicted on three felonies in connection with the crash last June.
Quinn was driving with siren blaring, responding to what turned out to be a false alarm, when he struck the motorcyclist. Quinn reportedly was spotted at a bar guzzling water immediately after the crash.
His blood-alcohol level was measured at .13 percent.
The motorcyclist suffered broken bones and a punctured lung.

Alex Bastian, spokesman for the district attorney's office, says Quinn faces a maximum of three years in prison.
Quinn's attorney, James Bustamante, declined to comment.
