Police Announce Arrests of Nearly 30 People

Federal prosecutors in San Francisco today announced that Wednesday's raids by immigration agents throughout the Bay Area were the culmination of an effort to combat the notorious MS-13 street gang.

MS-13 or Mara Salvatrucha started in Southern California and has roots in El Salvador.

Authorities say 29 people were arrested in what agents called "Operation Devil Horns."

The investigation deals with alleged drug trafficking, gun running, terrorism and extortion.

MS-13 has been linked to several killings in San Francisco.

Arrests were made in San Francisco, Richmond, Oakland, Alameda, South San Francisco, San Bruno and Reno, Nev., according to U- S Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
