Fire Damages Home, Several Vehicles in Antioch

A fire damaged a home and destroyed several vehicles in Antioch on Tuesday morning while causing minor injuries to a firefighter, a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District spokesman said.

The blaze was first reported at 7:10 a.m. in the 1700 block of East 18th Street.

The fire burned several vehicles and motorcycles as well as the structure of the home before being knocked down at 7:48 a.m., fire spokesman Steve Hill said.

It appears the fire started in the area of the vehicles before spreading to the home, Hill said. The exact cause remains under investigation.

A firefighter suffered a cut to a hand during the response and was treated at the scene, according to Hill.

There was an initial concern that the flames might spread to adjacent structures but crews were able to put out the fire before it damaged any other homes, Hill said.

Crews were still putting water on the fire and investigating the scene as of 8:45 a.m.
