Contra Costa Fire Protection District and Cal Fire crews battled a 3-to-5 acre brush fire near Martinez early Thursday morning, according to fire dispatch.
The blaze was first reported at 1:01 a.m. a quarter-mile east of McEwen Road on the eastbound side of state Highway 4, according to fire spokesman Steve Hill.
The fire burned on a medium slope and at a moderate rate of spread, before being contained at 1:41 a.m., Hill said.
At least seven units were at the scene.
There were no reports of injuries.
No further information was immediately available.
