About 20 fire engines and 100 firefighters battled a fire near Quimby Road and East Capitol Expressway in San Jose Sunday.
Crews responded to reports of a grass fire around 4:24 p.m.
Quimby at East Capitol Expressway was closed in both directions, a fire dispatcher said.
Firefighters were having a hard time trying to control the fire around 6:20 p.m due to the changing direction of the wind.
Mobile homes in the vicinity were potentially threatened because embers from the grass fire were flying over the wall, but there was no damage reported. An ambulance was called to the scene for a firefighter who sprained his ankle.
